Senior R&T Development Engineer
Viskase Corporation, a global manufacturing firm currently has an immediate full-time opening for a Senior R&T Development Engineer, a technical project management position located in Monterrey, Mexico. The selected candidate will conduct and coordinate experiments/analyses to develop new products (from new materials, processes, or combinations) in our Monterrey, Mexico facility which will accomplish the desired goal of enhancing and growing the Viskase casing product lines.
The responsibilities of the ideal candidate will be as follows:
- Plan and execute research and development projects of major impact to Viskase, where the complexity require a broad application of knowledge in the field of chemical, engineering, polymers, and extrusion.
- Run pilot trials, as well as customer/plant diagnosis and trouble shooting.
- The implementation of new products and processes into operations requires good team building and communication skills as well as technical ability.
- May direct/manage the activities of direct subordinates, and/or members of a multidisciplined research team.
- Review progress, evaluate results, recommend future work, prepare new proposals/estimates, and communicate via highly visible reports/patent disclosures/team meetings.
- Develop industry resources/contacts as well as gain good knowledge of the industry and applications.
Generally, this position operates with considerable latitude, reporting to the Director of Research and Technology. Some travel is required, e.g. to the corporate office in Darien, Illinois, customers, Kentland, Indiana and Beauvais, France.
To qualify for this key position, you must possess:
- B.S. Degree in engineering, packaging, or polymer science is preferred
- 5+ yrs in polymer manufacturing or packaging with an emphasis on materials/extrusion processing
- Fluent in English and Spanish

Technical Service Engineer
The Food Science Institue at VISKASE is seeking an individual to support its North American Sales group. This is a great opportunity for a self-starting, detail-oriented professional. To be successful, a candidate must be proactive, independent, and able to handle multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
The Mission:
The Food Science Institue at VISKASE North America, like its European counterpart:
- Supports Sales through technical evaluations of existing and new products at customer locations;
- Documents results in a rigorous manner to contribute meaningfully to the company's extensive and significant knowledge base;
- Supports customers through process evaluations to generate improvements and cost savings;
- Trains all new sales, marketing and management hires in the company in terms of products, capabilities and customer requirements;
- Supports R&D in field-testing of proprietary casings and the design of field experiments.
Such situations would include formulations, blending, chopping, stuffing, thermal processing, packaging, and sanitation of fresh and cured meats, coarse and fine emulsified, cooked, dry and semi-dry sausage.
To qualify for this key position, you must possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Science or related field
- 1-2 years industry experience
- A background in meat science
- Knowledge of industry technology
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An outgoing, people oriented personality

IT Developer Intern
Viskase, a global manufacturing firm currently is looking for an Intern that is currently seeking a Computer Science degree or related field that can assist on several internal software development projects. The candidates will have a sound understanding of OOP and a good knowledge of relational databases, SQL preferred. Strong problem solving skills and excellent communication skills are a must. Experience with basic client server and web development languages is also desired. Previous Co-Op, Work Study, Internship or real work experience as it relates to application, database development is a plus.

Senior Financial Analyst
The Senior Financial Analyst will assist in the preparation and consolidation of Annual Business Plan (ABP). Update plan and projected forecasts in revenue, EBITDA, and cash flow. Maintain or develop management reports including creation of new policies and/ or procedures where appropriate. Analyses will require the development of appropriate customer profitability and operational cost benchmarks, the identification of trends and variances, and an assessment of underlying business practices – emphasizing opportunities to maximize revenue and profits.
The responsibilities of the ideal candidate will be as follows:
- Assist in the preparation and consolidation of Annual Business Plan (ABP). Update plan and projected forecasts in revenue, EBITDA, and cash flow, as required.
- Provide back up and support to the Cost Accounting Supervisor to maintain SAP product standard costs, preparation of inventory analysis reports, and plant manufacturing analysis, as required.
- Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly financial reports. Present reports with insightful variance analysis for the Management Committee and Board of Directors. Analyses will require the development of appropriate benchmarks, the identification of trends and variances, and an assessment of underlying business practices – emphasizing opportunities to control and reduce costs.
- Maintain or develop management reports including creation of new policies and/ or procedures where appropriate. Prepare cost savings tracking analysis, as required by management.
- Maintain and develop enhancements to customer profitability tool to provide benchmarks and metrics for capacity, pricing, and other program related decisions.
- Prepare Ad hoc analysis (samples)
- Detailed account analysis to establish spending “reasonableness”

Assist Operations management in understanding of waste opportunities, spending,
and other budget variances

Evaluate customer profitability related to pricing and working capital requirements

Assist Sales and Operations in implementing new business initiatives (budgeting/pricing)

Monitor expenditures to identify opportunity for negotiation of national contracts

Compare production alternatives and develop financial implications and recommendations

Recommend budgeted expenditure levels and justification for these expense levels

Prepare capital expenditure request analysis
This position reports
to the Corporate Controller.
Skills and Competencies:
- Requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of corporate management
- Must possess initiative and the ability to work independently on all aspects of the job
- Explosion of work efforts and tools employed:
Information systems
- Corporate general ledger and financial system reporting is maintained on a SAP system Account analysis is completed using Essbase, Access and Brio data warehouse and reporting tools. Working knowledge of SAP and Brio reporting and downloading tools is required.
- Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Access) used for ad hoc analysis
- Must possess ability to look beyond favorable and unfavorable variances and understand the underlying business metrics
- Strong analytical and technical skills with experience creating benchmarks, charts and budgets. An ability to combine creativity with user-friendly presentation and insightful analysis is required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Qualifications and Work Experience:
- Accounting/finance related BA / BS with 5+ years of relevant experience
- MBA would be plus but not required
- Proficiency with data base management and spreadsheet software is necessary.
- Operations Finance experience with emphasis in manufacturing accounting is preferred
- 20-30% travel (including international) may be required
