General Data

In Europe this family of cellulose casing is made up of five casing types featuring varying degrees of stretchability. These casings are designed to give either a cylindrical or oval shape to finished products, depending on the type of casing used, and cover a range of diameters from 36 mm to 245 mm.

In their various presentations, they are suited to the production methods used in the manufacture of high quality meat products, which they enhance thanks to their common advantages:

• Permeability to smoke and water vapor,
• Exceptional clarity,
• Glossy surface,
• High quality printing, available in up to 6 colours.

Casing Characteristics Applications
Precision Low Stretch Cylindrical mortadellas, spreading sausages
R Casing Very Uniform Diameter High speed clipping machines, constant weights, diameters and lengths
Visrex Exceptionally Stretchable Very pronounced oval shape, oval mortadella, Haggis, smoked or dried meat
H. S. Casing High Stretch, Thick Walled, Glossy, Can Shrink During Drying Mortadella, cooked hams, pancettas, pieces of dried meat
ZEPHYR Very High Stretch and Shiny Oval products
ZEPHYR Reduced Stretch and Shiny Cylindrical mortadella

Storage and Handling

Store in a cool, dry place away from steam pipes or hot storage areas. Best storage temperatures are 15 to 20°C. When you have unused casing left in a carton, close the bag tightly to protect the casing.
